Teachers and principals turn on government's $360m plan

Primary school teachers and principals are starting to turn on the Government's 360-million-dollar plan to create new roles for the best teachers and principals. The union for primary teachers and principals, the Educational Institute, is asking its members if it should walk away from consultation on the policy.

Primary school teachers and principals now say they have their doubts about the Government's 360-million dollar plan to boost student achievement by creating new roles for the best teachers and principals. Most school sector organisations welcomed the plan to develop 6-thousand highly-paid executive principal and lead and expert teacher roles to work in groups of schools.
